We are just less than three weeks out from the Skyline Conference playoffs, and one team preparing to compete for a championship this fall is the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph’s.
With an undefeated in conference record so far, these girls have high hopes to make a deep run in this fall’s playoffs. This year, the team added four freshmen into the lineup, which when combined with the team’s veterans, created a well-balance starting lineup.
The team has a bonded feel to them, both on and off the court. Head Coach Robyn Romanoff has implemented a great balance of both match play and physical conditioning during the season to ensure the girls are mentally fit as well as physically.
“I love every part of being in these young people’s lives, helping shape who they will become as adults, and of course keeping the sport of tennis forever in my life,” said Romanoff, who is in her fourth year at the helm of the St. Joseph’s team.
One of the team’s leaders is senior captain Trinity Behlen, who has been on the team for all of Romanoff’s four seasons as coach, and been integral in the program’s growth.
“Getting to see Trinity evolve as a tennis player and as person over the last four years has truly been a blessing,” said Romanoff.
St. Joseph’s currently sits atop the Skyline Conference standings, and will host Mt. St. Mary this coming Saturday.
