NYIT’s Quagliardi Wins Singles and Doubles Title at ITA East Region

New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) freshman Barbie Quagliardi won both the singles and doubles titles at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regionals at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center this past weekend.

First, the Istanbul, Turkey native teamed up with Diana Baumgartnere to win the doubles title, and then later defeated Nathabi Mogopodi of Robert Wesleyan 6-0, 6-1 in the singles final.

With the victories, Quagliardi is now a combined 22-0 in singles and doubles play in the early stages of her college career.

As a result of her play this weekend, Quagliardi was named East Coast Conference (ECC) Player of the Week, and is set to play at the ITA Oracle Cup in Rome, Ga. in October.
