The Nassau County playoffs heated up on Wednesday afternoon with matches in both the Large School and Small School brackets taking place across the county.

The defending county champions, Syosset, advanced into the semifinals with a 6-1 win over Great Neck North.

Helping lead the way was Ansh Chadha who posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory at first singles.

“I felt good. It’s a different atmosphere, a playoff atmosphere. I’m happy with the result and we’re looking to get the job finished one match at a time,” said Chadha. “We’re not sure who we are playing yet, but any team in the semifinals is a good team. We just have to take it one match at a time, and focus on one point at a time.”

Dylan Apfel & Spencer Keschner clinched the win for the Braves via a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at second doubles.

“We felt great out there,” said Apfel. “We were comfortable from the baseline and great from the net. It felt good to put some balls away.”

Keschner added:

“We’ll see how the other matchups go, see who plays us next, and we’ll be ready to play our best no matter what.”

Syosset now awaits to see who it plays in the semifinals. They take on the winner of Plainview JFK and Port Washington OR Oceanside.
