Jericho, Lynbrook Clinch Conference Titles

The Nassau County regular season came to an end on Wednesday afternoon, and both Jericho and Lynbrook clinched their respective conference titles with victories.

Jericho wrapped up an undefeated season with a 7-0 victory over Glen Cove, improving to 14-0 and clinching Nassau County’s Conference II-A Championship.

Lynbrook won the Conference II-B title as it downed Massapequa 6-1. Kambiya Hussain and Arpie Bakhshian continued their unbeaten season at first doubles, outlasting Olivia Howes and Katherine Weglarz in a super tiebreaker 6-2, 4-6, (10-7).

Port Washington extended its winning streak to 31 straight matches, edging Syosset 4-3 in a tightly-contested Conference I showdown. Thea Rabman and Andrea Martinez won their matches in straight sets at first and second singles, respectively, to lead the way for the Vikings.

Nicole Pinkus and Nila Katsman hung on to defeat Julia Stingi and Allie Lynch 6-0, 3-6, 6-0 at second doubles to push Hewlett to a 5-2 victory over Cold Spring Harbor.

South Side clinched its spot in the county playoffs as it beat Calhoun 7-0 on Wednesday. Katie Mazzanobile and Caroline Ditchik won a close 6-3, 7-6(1) match at first doubles while Julia Gentile rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at second singles as South Side finished the regular season at 12-2, good for second place in Conference II-B.
