Adelphi’s Fakas Named NE10 Player of the Year

Adelphi senior Rebecca Fakas was named the 2017 Northeast-10 Conference Vern Cox Women’s Tennis Player of the Year, as the conference released its award winners and all-conference teams on Wednesday.

Fakas won 11 of her 12 matches in the first singles spot during NE10 play, leading the Panthers to an 11-1 record inside the conference. She was also named first team all-conference at first singles, and to the second team in the first doubles spot along with Karen Serina.  

Samantha Perri of Adelphi, a junior, was named to the fourth singles spot on the All-Conference First Team. Elizabeth Kallenberg and Nicole Kielan were named Second Team All-Conference for the second and third singles spots, respectively. Kallenberg and Perri checked in as the second doubles team on the All-Conference Second Team.
