Floyd, Commack Reach Suffolk Semifinals

The Suffolk County semifinals are all set, as the top four seeds all advanced to the final four with quarterfinal victories on Thursday afternoon.

Top-seeded Commack got past Sayville 5-2, setting up a matchup with the fourth-seed Floyd.

Emily Fernandez led the way for Floyd, knocking off Maddie Germano 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 at first singles to lead the Colonials to a 4-3 win over Islip.

The other Suffolk semifinal will see defending champions and third-seed Half Hollow Hills East take on second-seed Ward Melville.

Ward Melville beat Westhampton 5-2 in its quarterfinal match on Thursday, as Dara Berman and Julia Hu beat Daniela Tagliavia and Jenn Curran 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 at second doubles to anchor the victory.

Hills East got past Southampton 6-1 on Thursday.
