Friends Edges Cold Spring Harbor in Key Conference I Matchup

In a showdown between two of the top three teams in Nassau County’s Conference I on Wednesday, the Quakers of Friends Academy beat Cold Spring Harbor 4-3 to move into a first-place tie with Manhasset.

The deciding match would come at fourth doubles, as Parisa Vahid and Juliet D’Aversa knocked off Dani Morris and Alli Futter 7-6(3), 6-1 to secure the Friends’ sixth-straight victory.

Manhasset got past Roslyn 5-2 to improve to 9-2 on the season on Wednesday.

The Blazers of Great Neck North improved to 7-4 in Conference I with a 6-1 triumph over Locust Valley. Amy Delman beat Anastasia Koniaev in a good first singles battle 7-6(4), 6-2 to anchor the Great Neck North victory.

To the south, the Rebels of Great Neck South got back to .500 with a 4-3 win over Wheatley, while the Massapequa Chiefs remained undefeated with a 4-2 win over Long Beach.

Julianna Romeo came back from a set down to beat Tamiyah Massey 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 to lead the Chiefs.

In Conference IV, Alina Czavar beat Allison Chiu 6-4, 6-2 at third singles to lead West Hempstead to a 5-2 victory over Division.
