The USTA Eastern Long Island Region held it's first ever College Bound Tennis Players Send Off on Wednesday night at the Knights of Columbus in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Region invited Long Island high school seniors who committed to play college tennis to along with their parents and high school coaches.

"As a Region, we realized that there are about 40 kids playing next year and that is exciting. We wanted to give them some recognition," said Jackie Binder, USTA LI Board Member

The goal of the evening was to honor the students’ achievements and celebrate the fact that so many local students will be continuing their education while playing tennis in college.

"The event brings all of the seniors together … it recognizes them,” said Shai Fisher, Syosset High School Tennis Coach. “Long Island always produces good tennis, it is good to recognize them for their academic achievements as well.”
