USTA Hosts 2010 French Open Wild Card Main Draw

The USTA hosted a playoff this week to award a men’s and a women’s singles main-draw wild card to the 2010 French Open. The men’s and women’s wild-card tournaments took place on the clay courts of the Boca West Country Club in Boca Raton, Fla., April 27-29. The USTA and the French Tennis Federation have a reciprocal agreement in which wild-card entries into the main draw at the 2010 French Open and 2010 US Open are exchanged.

In Thursday’s championship matches …

In the women’s final, Christina McHale defeated Beatrice Capra in the women’s final 3-6 6-3 6-2 and is on her way to the French Open main draw next month at Roland Garros.

On the men’s side, Ryan Sweeting defeated Ryan Harrson to punch his ticket to the main draw of the 2010 French Open. Sweeting took the first two sets before dropping the third, but then bounced back to win in four 6-4, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4.
